Salmon and Bear – 226 King Street, Newtown

Salmon and Bear is a casual dining establishment born from the owners’ mutual love of seafood and their desire to deliver a higher standard of food at prices well below those of fine dining restaurants.

Employing an imported charcoal oven, the Mibrasa, to achieve incredibly high temperatures from coals that seals the fish quickly on the outside, crisping the skin whilst almost poaching the inside. The smoke also imparts a delicate smoky flavour into the fish.  Combine this cooking method with King Ora Salmon sourced from New Zealand, a fish with the highest Omega 3 content of any salmon in the world, and you have the recipe for a dining experience that is healthy, tasty and almost unique outside of fine dining level establishments.

The menu offers a wide range from beargers (burgers) and fish tacos through to the salmon dishes they’re famous for. Along the way Salmon and Bear deliver a Chef-Curated Poke – Chef/Owner Mark Jensen knows how to combine flavours and his delicate touch is perhaps best displayed in the Poke menu. You don’t need to “build your own” poke at Salmon and Bear, let Mark’s years of experience and discerning palate prepare you a Poke of excellence.

Salmon and Bear have a “Salmon and Movie” deal in partnership with the Newtown Dendy Cinema, so take advantage of this great offer and enjoy good food and good entertainment.

Fine fish served in a warm friendly atmoshphere centrally positioned in the eclectic neighbourhood of Newtown – what more could you need to start a great night or day out.
