Sydney City Farm is hosting a pop-up farmers’ market in Sydney Park, St Peters. The three trial market days are on on Friday 22 January, Friday 29 January and Friday 5 February 2016, between 8am and 1pm and are located near the brick kilns in Sydney Park, at the end of Newtown’s King Street.
The market includes organic locally grown vegetables, fruit, eggs, and honey; soaps, olive oil and olives grown and pressed in the Hunter Valley; a beautiful range of flowers from Glenorie; locally roasted fresh coffee; kombucha and sauerkraut made in south Sydney and super delicious handmade sausages. Yes vegetarian ones too.
You can also meet the City Farm staff and hear about what is in development for your local City Farm which is being created on a half hectare site in Sydney Park, St Peters. The farm will be a place for food production, community participation, education, innovation and collaboration.
A regular Sydney City Farm weekly farmers’ market is planned to start later in 2016. This market is an important part of the City Farm model. It also aims to close the gap between city and country by offering a new opportunity for locals to buy directly from farmers, and enjoying some of the freshest and most local foods available in the city.
We are doing some community consultation to make sure that our farmers’ market will meet the needs of the community in our timing, location, and product mix. Please take our markets survey and give us your feedback.
We look forward to seeing you at the market days where you can meet your neighbours, chat to local growers, enjoy sustainably farmed produce and grab a bite to eat.
