True Stories: Life writing

Course of 6 workshops February/March 2016

Everyone has a story to tell. But writing honestly about yourself and your nearest and dearest can be scary.

This course offers the opportunity to write in a safe, collaborative environment with step-by-step guidance and encouragement.

Course topics:

  • What will people say? Dealing with blocks
  • Identifying your dramatic question and using it to plan
  • Story structure for a gripping read
  • Creating character and setting
  • Strategies to help you finish your draft

Madeline Oliver specialises in storytelling on the page. With four others, she wrote The Painted Sky, a novel published by Random House in 2015. She has worked with many memoirists to develop their manuscripts to publication stage and is writing two memoirs of her own.
