Newtown Entertainment Precinct Project
The Newtown Entertainment Precinct Project, is an exciting initiative from Marrickville Council and the Newtown Entertainment Precinct Association.
The project has been developed to support the arts and entertainment in the Precinct and includes:
The Newtown Precinct Guide - a monthly lift-out in the CityHub offering reviews, profiles, features and listings.
The Newtown Precinct Poster Bollard Project - 3 poster bollards have been installed in the Precinct.
These Dog Poster Bollards acknowledge Newtown's canine subculture while offering Newtown's renowned local street artists an additional medium for their art.
The bollards are capped by canine sculptures designed by local artist Richard Byrnes.
The three bollards, located at Newtown Square, Cnr of Enmore and Stanmore Rd, and at St Peters Station, will act as gateways to the Newtown Entertainment Precinct.
Council and the Addison Road Centre recruited a Cultural Deveopment Officer to implement the Newtown Arts Development Project- a project designed to support visual artists in the Precinct. The project ran an artist business development seminar series, and the inaugural Marrickville Open Stuido Trail (MOST) in July 2005. MOST will again be happening in July 2008.
Other projects include the Newtown Square Art Board Project.
